TBOK, Foundation Level (FL) Syllabus

Mission

The mission of the TBOK, FL Syllabus working party is the maintenance of the Foundation Level syllabus and working out the new version of the Foundation Level Syllabus 2009 including:

  1. Clear and measurable learning objectives
  2. Unambiguously defined content and topic of the syllabus
  3. Easy usable guidelines for clear and adequate FL assessment questions in multiple-choice format.
  4. Easy and traceable transition strategy for the current training providers

Proof of Concept (POC) (1st draft) of Body of Knowledge created (Thomas Müller) and out for a review

WP informed and team to be established for the next CTFL Syllabus 2009 release.

Goal of ISTQB Syllabus FL2009:

  • consistency with new ISTQB AL 2007/8
  • consistency with Glossary 2.0
  • covering proposals for improving, new topics, topics to omit

Constraints for the new CTFL 2009 syllabus:

  • no re-accreditation required for training providers
  • no know LO in principle, but more clear, accurate and testable LO allowed.

Work plan:

  1. chapters 1-6 rewrite in sub-teams, each subteam creates one question per LO
  2. integration of rewritten chapters
  3. Review and rewrite where required the Los by Thomas Müller and 1 to 2 reviewers
  4. The updated CTFL syllabus 2009 shall be out for team review by mid June 09
  5. Public review August
  6. Technical Writing in September
  7. Release to ISTQB End of September
  8. The date when the FL 2009 syllabus shall be effective shall be decided at the June General Assembly in Vienna.

  • The problem about ownership and legal protection delayed the publication for another to months
  • The following roadmap has been proposed and accepted by countries using the English syllabus
  • Switzerland requests a change for German and French roadmap (bold) be-cause the translation of New Exams will not be ready by Oct. 1st 2005
